AKC shows, 4-H activities, and my back yard is where I express my love for dogs. I invite other "dog people" to share their photos, stories, and events with me so we can smile together! "cat people" welcome at their own risk!:)

We have Puppies !
Announcing the arrival of "Indian Hill's Red Solo Cup" (aka Solo) our sole pup from Aerial X Brew lhasa litter and the 4 Musketeers (3 boys, 1 girl, all blenheim) from Bailey X Ruby cavalier litter !!! Moms and pups all doing well, pictures coming soon !
Had our practice show for the 4-H kids tonight. There will be 4 in obedience and 5 in showmanship --- an English Setter, a yellow lab cross, a lhasa apso, a Chinese crested, and an Australian sheperd. The youth are ages 10 -- 16 and there is one boy and 4 gals showing. It is an interesting mix. They have been working very hard and I am proud of them !

Still Waiting......
Well, we have a very pregnant cavalier girl who really should have her babies SOON...and our beloved lhasa Aerial due in another week...so we are on puppy watch here!
Like this print to the left, unfortunately I do not know who the artist is.
Still deciding about the Lake Elmo , MN show...it is a very nice show late August... and thinking ahead to the January Mpls show....
Getting ready for our annual 4-H fair with the kids. The project has grown from 1 youth four years ago, to 4 youth and 7 entries this year! Slow but steady growth! I am very proud of the effort my kids and the young lady attending classes have put forth this year! This week we will be working in a mock ring to practice for the show that is only 3 weeks away now!

My thoughts on the Duluth MN summer show....
http://www.duluthkennelclub.org/
I went to the Duluth summer show for the first time this year (held July 11th - 14th). Click on the link above to view their website.
Here's my "two cents worth".......
The Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center was easy to get to with just a coupe trick lane changes my TomTom got me through without incident. Parking was convenient in a very close ramp with adequate space to load/unload. There did not appear to be much room for rvs, but I did not walk around the building outside to see if there was more available.
Grooming Space was a little tight, I would recommend the reserved sites. Also the rings were a just a little bit small and the cement floor in the grooming area and in the rings off the mats was slippery in some spots. The lighting and ventilation were good -- it was hot and humid outside, and surprisingly comfortable inside. There was no "clean-up"crew, but everyone seemed to be doing a good job picking up after any 'accidents' and there was plenty of trashcans. There was also some ringside chairs set up for spectators, a nice plus. It cost me $5 to park and $5 to get in, there was an admission cap of $15 for families.
There wasn't many vendors there, but they had plenty of room and very nice displays.
The bathrooms were clean and large enough and there was handicapped parking available right by the main door. Some spots may have been difficult to navigate if a person was in a wheel chair or otherwise had limited mobility, but this unfortunately is a common problem at shows.
Some of the rings were located quite a ways from the others and the superintendent area was not quickly noticeable. Also there was next to nothing available for meals/drinks so if you go to this show be sure to pack a cooler! Accessing electric outlets did not seem to be a problem in the grooming area. It was a nice medium sized show with few frills and fewer distractions to introduce young dogs to the ring. The acoustics were good, sounds did not echo and there was no banging doors or screeching address systems :) The show also included a sanctioned "B" match and a couple of educational seminars. There was a boat museum and aquarium nearby and shops and places to eat not too far. Motels were not real close, but several were available. I would give this show a 3 out if 5 star rating and will plan on attending again...
