Tibet, known as "the roof of the world" and surrounded with mystique and nearly impenetrable mountain ranges is the original home of Lhasa Apsos ; where they acted as personal companions and sentinels of the monks. The Lhasa Apso's temperament is a unique blend of joyful, mischievous, loyal, dignified and sometimes aloof-- particulary with strangers. Because of their expressive facial features, owners often remark on their "human-like" qualities and sensitivity to human feelings, claiming their dogs "can almost talk".
